Terry Clark for Gympie Regional Council

I was born in Bourke, NSW in 1953 and schooled in Sydney where I started my working life. I trained as an Apparel Plant Mechanic (industrial Sewing machine) at East Sydney Tech and worked in the clothing industry for years before extensively travelling Australia.

During this time I survived cyclone Tracey in Darwin, worked in the mining industry in QLD and WA, and had the opportunity to travel overseas.

Looking for a more normal life and no shift work I moved to Gympie where I worked for Drummond and Kindred Clothing for nine years as factory manager. The last 18 years I have worked as an armourer with Owen Guns.

During my time in Gympie I have been a member of the State Emergency Service for 19 years and the SES Local Controller for the last the two. I have always been hands on and you will see me in orange as an SES member.

St John Ambulance has given me about 15 years of training and pleasure. I am now the Divisional Officer (2 IC to Bennett Suthers) in the Gympie Division of St John Ambulance Australia. I enjoy providing First Aid at sporting fixtures and teaching First Aid. I look forward to continuing my volunteer activities. I have also been involved in Squash, Rhee Tae Kwon Do, Gympie Goal Diggers Toastmasters, Local Ambulance Committee and a regular blood donor.

My concern for our community compels me to stand up and help now when Council so urgently needs renovation.
